Summary of Round 2 Games

1st XI

Our 1st XI hosted Sth Caulfield at McKinnon Reserve.

We batted first and side needed to make 250+ to combat the powerful Sth Caulfield batting line up.

After a loss of an early wicket, McKinnon recovered well and batted steadily to post a score of 188. Ash Streker continued to display good form top scoring with 45, and was well supported by Braydn Mancel 41 and Adam Pullman 25.

Sth Caulfield's batting line up proved too strong and they finished the day at 3/220. Luke Porter was the best of our bowlers taking 1/36 off 15 overs.

Next Saturday our 1st XI travel to Bonbeach @ Bonbeach Sports Reserve.

2nd XI

After a fantastic win in Round One, our 2nd XI played Carnegie at Koornang Park.

A disappointing batting display on Day One resulted in McKinnon being dismissed for only 86.

The boys fought back in the field and threw everyone at Carnegie, at one stage having them 7/98 before finally dismissing them for 175.

On Day 2 we faced an uphill battle to play out the day and avoid outright defeat. Jacob Gray had to withdraw due to injury and will be lost to cricket for several months whilst he recovers from a back injury, and Captain James Bragganolo could not play.

The boys showed more grit and determination with the bat second time round and were dismissed for 139, with Jon Don Paul top scoring with 36, and well supported by Jake Halasz 28 and Boopa Munasinghe 24 no.

The 2nds host Parkdale at McKinnon Reserve in Round 3.

Our 4th XI also played Clayton District.

McKinnon batted first and made a respectable 8/127 off our 35 overs.

Captain Guy Marrocco top scored with 46, and Cale Hirschman made a useful 41 towards the end of the innings.

Despite the efforts of Kartik Balasubramanian returning for his first hit out of the season who took 2/11 off his 5 overs, Clayton District passed us 5 wickets down, making 5/128.
